Creating the Valsgärde Helmet Cheek Plates "Valsgarde 6 helmet (4/11)"

Valsgärde helmet 6- In this video tutorial i've build the cheek plates. You can follow me through the whole process, from cutting each piece from 1,5 mm sheet steel and 1,5mm brass for the edging, grinding them to shape with a belt grinder, filing, dishing and final assembly. I also needed a matrix to emboss the typical three lines on the decorative brass pieces, so I've cast them in aluminium bronze, which is a really tough but brittle metal. This is the fourth part of my first series about the recreation of a Vendel kings helmet found in grave 6, Valsgärde, Sweden, 2nd half of VIIth century.
