From time immemorial, in a distant mountain, at the crossroads between three continents, lived a carefree group of cattle, undisturbed by the events below. They were unpretentious and adapted to the local harsh conditions. They repaid their owners as best they could. They did not know what a fence were. There was only freedom for them... Probably the smallest and most ancient breed in Europe, the Rhodope shorthorn cattle is a heritage from prehistory, forged over the centuries and has survived in its pure form to this day. The coat is a different color - brown to black, gray or yellow. The muzzle is black with a light ring, and the mucous membranes are lead gray or black. The horns are white with black tips, thin and brittle. The hooves are lead gray or black and the udder is light yellow. But one day powerful breeds conquered the whole country, and young people fled to the cities. Mountain cattle were forgotten. Today, they are threatened with extinction. Another breed sinks into darkness... Indigenous breeds are priceless and must be protected! In the near future, they will play a key role in the survival of the human species, as they have done before.
