UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES. Late 6th-7th centuries. AV Solidus (18mm, 4.21 g, 1h). Imitating Byzantine emperor Constantine IV. Schematized helmeted and cuirassed facing bust, holding spear and shield; A to left, AV to right / Schematized cross potent on two steps flanked by two figures with cross-scepter “tails” to right; Δ to left, retrograde C above A to right, N in exergue. Cf. Triton VIII, lot 1290, otherwise unpublished. EF. Extremely rare.
