Piercing Riveted Maille

Riveted maille is one of the most common forms of European and Medieval armour, but it’s also one of the least understood. My previous video on riveted maille production was originally made in 2009. The video was based on my somewhat limited knowledge at the time and was intended as a school project. I still use many of the techniques shown in the video, but there are other methods I have learned over the past eight years that are more specific to the various time periods maille was used and the tools available. One of the most common questions has been how does one pierce an overlapped ring for making a riveted join? As it turns out, there were multiple options, including my own personal hypothetical method.
