Medieval Sewing Made Easy - How to Sew a Buttonhole
In this episode we are demonstrating how to reconstruct the late medieval way to sew a buttonhole, this technique is useful for such garments as Kirtles, Gowns, Aketons, Gambesons and Coatehardies.
Medieval buttonholes unlike modern ones were closer to the edge of the garment and spaced closer together.
