Boat Mill of Ráckeve

A boat mill (or ship mill) is a type of watermill. The last boat mill in Hungary was found in Ráckeve. This mill unfortunately sank during the hard winter of 1968, when the ice broke the boat’ wheel and took the houseboat and mill down with it. In 2006 the inhabitants of Ráckeve decided to reconstruct the old boat mill. The reconstruction took three years, from 2007 to 2010. This mill is one of the two working boat mill on the Danube. The other has been moored at Orth an der Donau (in Lower Austria).
